Inside the Omega Trio: Chia, Flax and Hemp

August 27, 2026

What the Omega Trio is built for

Omega-3 fats are often associated with fish, but plant foods have their own versions. The Omega Trio shake focuses on three seeds that are well known for supplying them: chia, flax and hemp.

It is the minimalist option in the signature range, a short ingredient list with a clear purpose.

What each seed brings

Chia: Chia seeds soak up many times their weight in liquid and form a gel, which thickens a shake naturally. Nutritionally they contribute fibre, a plant omega-3 fat called ALA, and minerals such as calcium and magnesium.

Flax: Flax is one of the best-known plant sources of ALA and lignans, and it adds gentle, nutty fibre. In powder form its nutrients are easier to reach than in whole seeds, which is one reason powders are so handy.

Hemp: Hemp seeds provide complete plant protein, meaning all nine essential amino acids, together with omega-3 and omega-6 fats and magnesium. They taste soft and nutty, and the hulled seeds used in food are not the intoxicating part of the plant.

Chia and flax provide ALA, a plant omega-3 that the body can partly convert to other omega-3 fats, and hemp offers both omega-3 and omega-6 in a balanced ratio, plus protein. It is worth knowing that conversion from ALA is limited, so plant omega-3 is a contribution rather than a replacement for other sources.

Who it suits

It suits vegetarians and vegans, people who rarely eat fish, and anyone who likes a clean, simple ingredient list. It also works for people who find larger seed blends too strong in flavour.

When to drink it

Breakfast is the classic slot, but it also suits an afternoon snack. Because of its mild taste, many people enjoy it before or after a walk. Drink it fresh, since chia and flax thicken quickly.

Because the ingredient list is short, the fruit and liquid you choose define the character of the shake. Try a version with berries on one day and banana on another to see which you prefer. Many people find the simplicity makes the Omega Trio the easiest shake to keep drinking week after week.

How to customise it

Berries and a splash of vanilla-flavoured plant drink are an easy combination. Banana produces a smooth finish. If you find it too thick, ask for a larger amount of liquid; if you want it more filling, ask for milk or a soy drink. Every Naturalition shake comes in Small 12 oz, Medium 16 oz or Large 20 oz, with a free choice of liquid, sweetener and one fruit.

Who should check with a doctor first

Speak with your doctor before regular use if you take anticoagulants, antiplatelet drugs or other medicines where omega-3 intake matters, or if you have a bleeding disorder or are due for surgery. People with seed allergies or sensitive digestion should also check first.
